Join us for a dialogue with artist Jo Norris-Gaither on the occasion of Those of Living Light, a project created within the Public Ceramic Praxis Fellowship. Showcasing a series of portraits and still-life images of Black Queer life made from hand-built pinhole ceramic cameras, this artist talk will discuss the parallels between analog forms of documentation and how we use them in the modern day to fight against cultural erasure. The talk will also explore the history of camera obscuras alongside the intersection of lens based art and ceramics, and how these processes can inspire contemporary documentation of queer lives.
